About the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR)
The Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) is an international set of standards and levels for defining language ability. It classifies language ability into 6 different levels from beginner to mastery of a language (A1, A2, B1, B2, C1, and C2). This classification makes it easy for all involved in language learning and testing to understand and establish standard levels of different qualifications. It also means that employers and educational institutions can easily compare CEFR qualifications to other exam leveling in their country or other countries.
